ProImmune partners Roslin Institute to advance veterinary immunology tools

Quick Takeaways:

  • ProImmune has partnered with Roslin Institute to develop and validate species-specific Ankyron binders, aiming to address gaps in veterinary immunology research tools. The collaboration focuses on improving understanding of animal and zoonotic diseases through advanced binding technologies
  • Under the agreement, Roslin will identify key protein targets lacking reagents, while ProImmune will generate highly specific Ankyron binders across porcine, bovine, avian, and salmonid species. These small, high-specificity proteins will support applications like flow cytometry and immunofluorescence, especially where traditional antibodies are unavailable
  • Validated binders will be shared via the Immunological Toolbox platform, a BBSRC-backed initiative, enabling broader access for researchers. By enhancing reagent availability, the collaboration aims to accelerate veterinary research, support sustainable farming, and strengthen efforts against zoonotic diseases in line with the One Health approach

Why It Matters?

The Roslin partnership positions ProImmune’s Ankyron platform as core enabling infrastructure for veterinary immunology, filling longstanding reagent gaps that have slowed work on livestock, avian, and fish pathogens relevant to food security and zoonoses.
By feeding validated species‑specific binders into the BBSRC-backed Immunological Toolbox, the collaboration should broaden access to high-quality tools, lower entry barriers for labs, and indirectly support the One Health agenda by improving research on diseases at the human–animal interface.
