Zoetis to Acquire VitalRADS, Expanding AI-Driven Veterinary Diagnostics Portfolio

Quick Takeaways:

  • Zoetis has agreed to acquire VitalRADS, a veterinary teleradiology platform, building on the partnership established in August 2025. The acquisition adds 24/7 access to board-certified veterinary specialists through a cloud-based teleradiology network and strengthens Zoetis’ Global Diagnostics portfolio with AI-assisted report generation, quality assurance capabilities, and an expanded Virtual Reference Laboratory.
  • VitalRADS provides a comprehensive suite of diagnostic services, including teleradiology, mobile ultrasound, outpatient imaging, and cloud-based image storage (VitalPACS). The platform supports more than 1,800 veterinary customers, offers same-day imaging reports with two-hour STAT reads, serves over 25 animal species, and operates an American College of Veterinary Radiology-certified residency program. Its AI-assisted workflows help streamline radiology reporting and improve diagnostic quality through specialist-guided image analysis.
  • The acquisition advances Zoetis’ strategy to combine AI-powered diagnostics with specialist expertise, complementing platforms such as Vetscan Imagyst and Vetscan Opticell. Zoetis expects the transaction to close in Q3 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the company said it will work closely with VitalRADS and its customers to ensure a smooth transition.

Why It Matters?

Zoetis’s acquisition of VitalRADS is a strategic move to consolidate and scale veterinary diagnostics by bundling AI-powered workflow tools, teleradiology, mobile and outpatient imaging, and cloud-based storage under one platform, which should accelerate adoption of Zoetis’s diagnostics ecosystem, deepen ties with veterinary practices through subscription-style imaging and reporting services, and create a more defensible moat against competitors offering standalone radiology or imaging analyzers.
